Responsibilities
- Prepare technical design specifications and knowledge-transfer materials.
- Review requirements, analysis, and design documents and provide feedback.
- Implement, test, maintain, support, and improve software and existing codebases.
- Lead architecture, design, implementation, code reviews, and technical decision-making for scalable web services and SaaS products.
- Identify system issues and improvement opportunities and develop standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders to implement technical designs.
- Investigate and apply relevant new technologies, including AI-native engineering practices.
- Assist customer support with technical issues and questions.
- Mentor less experienced developers and lead project work when needed.
Requirements
- At least 7.5 years of Java full-stack development experience, including at least 7 years developing systems or software for large business environments.
- Strong object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture principles, preferably implemented in Java.
- Strong experience leading architecture, design, and implementation of robust, highly scalable web services.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure SaaS infrastructure, DevOps technologies, and extensive debugging.
- Understanding of unit, test-driven, functional, and performance testing.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database systems and data architecture.
- Experience with distributed systems and cloud-based big data systems, including at least 5 years developing and debugging distributed systems.
- Experience with software security-enhancing tools and best practices and at least one shell scripting language.
- React experience is a plus.
- Experience integrating with event buses such as Pulsar and cloud-based big data solutions such as Snowflake is a plus.
- Understanding of big data, machine learning, LLMs, automation, AI modernization, and engineering toolchains.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a master's degree is a plus.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation, facilitation, collaboration, and independent decision-making skills.
