Responsibilities
- Consult with clients to resolve application issues, identify business needs, and deliver solutions throughout the full project life cycle.
- Analyze, architect, design, code, test, and maintain IBM i business applications using RPG and SQL.
- Perform unit, integration, smoke, and other testing to ensure program and application integrity.
- Document system architecture for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Lead small technical teams when required and conduct code reviews for database and logic changes.
- Modernize legacy business applications into scalable ILE applications.
- Support structured deployment and version-control processes and communicate technical concepts to clients and developers.
Requirements
- 20+ years of proven experience with the IBM i, iSeries, or AS/400 platform.
- Advanced mastery of RPG, especially RPGLE, free-form syntax, and embedded SQL.
- Mandatory hands-on experience with JDA/MMS.
- Expert-level DB2 application programming and database design experience.
- Deep understanding of ILE modules, service programs, and binding directories.
- Experience with structured deployment and version-control processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with both client stakeholders and technical developers.
