Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly team goals while leading engineers through open-ended problems and supporting delivery.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
- Identify and resolve project, process, technology, and business issues.
- Create and monitor operational metrics, escalate issues, and support availability, keep-the-lights-on, and on-call efforts.
- Establish and improve code review and design standards and promote quality through writing and technical talks.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
- Design, develop, and launch scalable backend systems for international payment experiences and new-country expansion.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Experience using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Track record developing highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Ability to define technical plans for significant features or system components using simple, extensible designs.
- Ability to make significant changes safely in large codebases and build supporting tools and practices.
- Strong ownership of professional growth and proactive feedback-seeking.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
