Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical backend systems while owning reliability, performance, and availability.
- Deliver new features with the team and iterate based on results and customer feedback.
- Drive projects from initial ideation through production operations.
- Contribute to open-source projects beyond the team’s direct scope.
- Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of operated services.
- Support teammates, participate in design discussions, and collaborate in a fully remote environment.
- Develop a deeper understanding of Grafana Cloud, customers, and a large distributed-system codebase.
Requirements
- Solid experience with at least one programming language; Go is used, while Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar experience is also applicable.
- Some experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through product shipment.
- Some experience developing software that runs in the cloud or experience with systems engineering.
- Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software.
- Experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker is a bonus.
- Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational, on-call, hobby, or homelab contexts is a bonus.
- Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems is a bonus.
- Familiarity with on-call work, operations/SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code is a bonus.
- Independent working ability and strong communication and collaboration skills are required for the remote setup.
