Responsibilities
- Own the equations, algorithm design, and C++ implementation of GoldSim’s numerical simulation solutions.
- Improve GoldSim’s numerical capabilities and propose new features based on customer and discipline-specific needs.
- Participate in software design discussions throughout the development lifecycle.
- Build models for quality assurance, verification, product examples, and customer support.
- Document the theoretical basis and practical implementation of GoldSim’s numerical methods.
- Partner with the founding engineer to formalize modeling, QA, and support methodology.
- Collaborate with software engineers to integrate numerical capabilities into the broader platform.
- Translate business and product requirements into technical specifications.
- Provide technical support to QA and customer support on advanced modeling and numerical questions.
- Communicate mathematical and technical concepts clearly to engineers, QA, and product stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to modernize GoldSim’s algorithmic infrastructure and explore machine learning approaches to simulation.
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD in science or engineering with outstanding academic performance.
- Broad experience with applied mathematics and numerical methods for science and engineering problems, including matrix algebra and methods for solving partial differential equations.
- Background in earth sciences or civil engineering, preferably with contaminant transport modeling experience.
- Extensive C++ programming experience, ideally in scientific or engineering applications.
- Proven ability to design and implement practical numerical solutions to real-world problems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members.
- Familiarity with commercial or open-source numerical libraries and frameworks is a plus.
- Experience developing and supporting Windows desktop applications is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB, R, or Tableau is a plus.
- Experience applying AI or machine learning techniques, LLM-based tools, or AI-assisted development to scientific or engineering software is a plus.
