Base Salary
$180k - $350k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build detection, inference, state, and delivery systems behind critical product experiences.
- Instrument difficult problems before selecting solutions.
- Establish evidence of correctness when ground truth is unavailable.
- Make principled tradeoffs across imperfect signals, edge cases, and user impact.
- Turn persistent quality problems into comprehensible, repeatable systems.
- Partner with product and platform teams to determine where systems should live.
Requirements
- Experience shipping a complex system with interacting failure modes.
- Experience owning a system whose correctness was difficult to observe.
- Experience defining a quality metric whose meaning was contested.
- Systems thinking combined with product intuition and user empathy.
- Recent hands-on implementation experience following problems across boundaries.
- Detail-oriented, first-principles thinking and ownership of ambiguous outcomes.
- Experience with signal processing, fraud, ranking, anomaly detection, or ML evaluation may translate well.
- Prior audio, speech, desktop, or specific product-domain experience is not required.
