Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate RESTful APIs and integration services connecting cloud services with on-premise banking systems.
- Create reusable API patterns for banking capabilities and maintain API contracts, versioning strategies, and backward compatibility.
- Implement API security controls including OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, JWT validation, request signing, gateway policies, and rate limiting.
- Build hybrid connectivity and integration flows using API gateways, service meshes, ESB/iPaaS tools, message brokers, private endpoints, and secure routing.
- Integrate with MQ, legacy services, SOAP systems, databases, batch systems, and modern cloud services.
- Implement structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, dashboards, and alerting; support deployments, incident triage, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
- Automate CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure/configuration as code where applicable.
- Write clean, testable code; participate in code reviews, technical design reviews, architecture governance, and operational documentation.
- Collaborate with architects, platform engineers, security teams, business stakeholders, third parties, and regulators as required.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience developing APIs or integration services in regulated enterprise environments; banking or financial-services experience is strongly preferred.
- BA or MBA in IT, or relevant experience.
- Proven experience building hybrid cloud-to-on-premise integrations and secure data exchange.
- Strong hands-on experience with API design, implementation, and lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in one or more of Java with Spring Boot, .NET, Node.js, or Python.
- Experience with API gateways such as Apigee, Kong, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway, or Mulesoft.
- Experience with Kafka, MQ, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, or comparable messaging and eventing platforms.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift, plus integration patterns such as synchronous/asynchronous processing, pub/sub, idempotency, retries, backpressure, saga/compensation, and data consistency.
- Understanding of JSON, XML, Avro, and schema evolution.
- Practical experience with OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, certificate management, secrets management, and secure configuration.
- Experience with SAST/DAST, dependency scanning, secure CI pipelines, unit testing, integration testing, and consumer-driven contract testing such as Pact.
- Familiarity with service mesh, zero-trust patterns, TOGAF, enterprise integration architecture, API product management, GDPR, data privacy, and retention requirements is preferred.
- Banking-domain knowledge covering payments, SEPA/SWIFT, card processing, transaction monitoring, AML/KYC, or customer onboarding is preferred.
- Exposure to Thought Machine or 10X banking platforms is preferred.
- Strong communication, relationship management, collaboration, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
