Responsibilities
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and integration services connecting cloud services with on-premise banking systems.
- Create reusable API patterns and maintain API contracts, versioning strategies, and backward compatibility.
- Implement API security controls including OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, JWT validation, request signing, gateway policies, and rate limiting.
- Build and operate hybrid integration flows using API gateways, service meshes, ESB/iPaaS tools, message brokers, private connectivity, and secure routing.
- Integrate cloud services with MQ, legacy services, SOAP systems, databases, and batch systems.
- Implement logging, distributed tracing, metrics, dashboards, alerting, production support, incident triage, and root cause analysis.
- Automate CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure or configuration as code where applicable.
- Write clean, testable code and participate in unit, integration, contract testing, code reviews, design reviews, and architecture governance.
- Document API products and integration runbooks for operational readiness.
- Collaborate with architects, platform engineers, security teams, business stakeholders, third parties, and regulators.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience developing APIs or integration services in regulated enterprise environments.
- A BA or MBA in IT, or relevant equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience building hybrid cloud-to-on-premise integrations and secure data exchange.
- Strong experience with API design, implementation, and lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in one or more of Java with Spring Boot, .NET, Node.js, or Python.
- Experience with API gateways such as Apigee, Kong, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway, or Mulesoft.
- Experience with messaging or eventing platforms such as Kafka, MQ, RabbitMQ, or Azure Service Bus.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- Understanding of synchronous and asynchronous integration, pub/sub, idempotency, retries, backpressure, saga or compensation patterns, and data consistency.
- Experience with JSON, XML, Avro, schema evolution, OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, certificate management, secrets management, SAST/DAST, dependency scanning, secure CI pipelines, and Pact or similar contract testing.
- Banking or financial-services experience is strongly preferred, particularly with payments, card processing, transaction monitoring, AML/KYC, or customer onboarding.
- Exposure to Thought Machine or 10X, Istio or Linkerd, zero-trust patterns, TOGAF, enterprise integration architecture, API product management, GDPR, and operational controls is preferred.
- Strong communication, relationship management, analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, collaboration, and customer-centricity skills.
