$189k - $255k/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive significant technology initiatives end-to-end across customer-facing tax flows, backend calculation and filing systems, and multiple architectural layers.
- Architect and develop scalable, resilient, secure, maintainable applications capable of handling extreme seasonal traffic spikes.
- Set technical direction and recommend best practices for application development, platform development, and developer tooling.
- Partner with product, design, data science, tax content, and compliance stakeholders across global teams.
- Identify, launch, and evaluate AI integrations including intelligent guidance, automated document extraction, and personalized recommendations.
- Measure AI and software performance, accuracy, and customer satisfaction in production and make adjustments as needed.
- Coach and mentor engineers across levels on software engineering practices, AI application development, and technical growth.
- Communicate technical direction and recommendations clearly to employees, customers, management, and executives.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience delivering enterprise-class applications and a track record of technical leadership at Staff level or above.
- Deep expertise in algorithms, design patterns, distributed-systems architecture, scalable application development, and high-throughput backend services.
- Proficiency with Java and experience with relational, SQL, and NoSQL database design and analytics.
- Experience with test automation, including unit, integration, and functional testing at scale.
- Deep experience building CI/CD pipelines and improving engineering velocity across teams.
- Practical experience with microservices, container technologies, Kubernetes, utility or cloud computing, and deploying applications to cloud environments.
- Experience building or integrating AI models using techniques such as LLM prompting and AutoML, and monitoring AI performance in production.
- Knowledge of accessibility, internationalization, instrumentation, cross-browser and cross-platform development, and web and mobile design constraints.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with data scientists, product managers, tax experts, and software engineers.
- Prior experience in tax, fintech, or highly regulated or compliance-driven domains is preferred.
