Senior Robotics Engineer (Dynamics and Controls)

Responsibilities
- Develop vehicle dynamics and controls software deployed to GM’s Super Cruise system.
- Architect and implement system designs and interface contracts with perception, prediction, and planning systems.
- Provide technical leadership through reviews, software engineering practices, and cross-functional alignment.
- Define verification and validation strategies using simulation and on-road testing gates.
- Partner with Safety, Systems Engineering, and Product teams to generate onboard-system requirements.
- Investigate complex integration issues, create test plans, and define performance metrics using data-driven experimentation.
- Improve software reliability through continuous integration, automated testing, and code reviews.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or M.S. in controls, optimization, path planning, or a related field; a B.S. with strong relevant work experience may be considered.
- At least 3 years of experience in motion planning or a related field.
- Deep understanding of optimal controls and trajectory optimization algorithms.
- Knowledge of classical and modern feedback control theory and techniques.
- Solid understanding of vehicle dynamics.
- Demonstrated experience building high-quality autonomous software systems.
- Deep expertise in planning and controls system design.
- Experience with C++ and Python in a large, distributed development environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Preferred experience in robotics, ROS, autonomous vehicles or advanced driver assistance systems, numerical optimization, safety-critical software, or engineering team management.
