Responsibilities
- Prepare technical design specifications and knowledge-transfer materials based on functional requirements.
- Review requirements, analysis, and design documents and provide feedback.
- Implement, test, maintain, and support software based on technical specifications.
- Lead architecture, design, implementation, and code reviews for scalable web services and distributed systems.
- Improve existing applications and codebases, identify recurring issues, and develop standard operating procedures.
- Mentor less experienced developers and help lead project work.
- Investigate new technologies, support customer-facing technical issues, and collaborate with colleagues and cross-functional teams.
- Make independent technical decisions and participate in additional projects as needed.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience developing systems or software for large business environments, including 10 years of Java Enterprise Edition experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 8 years of experience developing mission-critical, low-latency solutions for large business environments.
- At least 5 years of experience developing and debugging distributed systems and working with cloud-based big data systems.
- Strong object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture principles, preferably implemented in Java.
- Strong experience leading the architecture, design, and implementation of robust, highly scalable web services.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure SaaS infrastructure, CI/CD technologies, and extensive debugging.
- Understanding of unit, functional, performance, and test-driven development practices.
- Experience with React, SQL or NoSQL database systems, data architecture, event buses such as Pulsar, and cloud-based big data solutions such as Snowflake is preferred.
- Experience with software security-enhancing tools and best practices and knowledge of at least one shell scripting language.
- Ability to work across business strategy, product strategy, technical design, and implementation while collaborating effectively in complex environments.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation, facilitation, communication, and customer-focused problem-solving skills.
