Base Salary
$140k - $80k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and establish QA standards, processes, best practices, and the overall QA practice.
- Own test strategy for backend applications, integration points, file-based data exchanges, functional testing, regression testing, and integration testing.
- Validate backend data processing, file-based workflows, inter-system integrations, APIs, and data accuracy.
- Lead API testing and validation using Postman or equivalent tools, with exposure to performance testing.
- Apply and champion Deterministic Simulation Testing and other simulation-based or AI-aware testing approaches.
- Lead or mentor QA engineers and help build the QA function as a first or sole QA hire.
- Drive test planning, test case design, test execution, defect triage, and quality reporting at the program level.
- Partner with developers and analysts to resolve defects, clarify requirements, and influence upstream quality decisions.
- Track and report quality metrics and QA practice maturity to leadership.
Requirements
- 3–4 years of software testing experience at a senior or lead level, with ownership of testing strategy.
- At least 2 years defining QA standards, processes, or best practices for a team or organization.
- At least 2 years leading or mentoring QA engineers, including managing or coaching a team of 2 or more QA engineers.
- At least 1–2 years of hands-on Deterministic Simulation Testing or equivalent simulation-based or deterministic testing experience in complex distributed systems.
- At least 3 years of hands-on API testing and validation experience using Postman or an equivalent tool.
- Experience establishing a QA function in a greenfield or early-stage environment.
- A forward-looking perspective on AI in testing, ideally including at least 1 year using AI-assisted or AI-native testing tools.
- At least 3 years operating in sprint-based delivery models and familiarity with Agile/Scrum.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Knowledge of Kafka message validation and consumer/producer testing is desirable.
- Familiarity with ETL concepts, data pipelines, or batch-processing systems is desirable.
- Experience building or scaling automation frameworks such as Selenium, TestNG, or Cypress is desirable.
- Experience with JMeter or similar API performance-testing tools is desirable.
- Understanding of version-control tools such as Git and exposure to Azure and Kubernetes are desirable.
