Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical authority and spend approximately 60–70% of time writing production-ready code, reviewing code, and building reusable components and blueprints.
- Architect and implement highly resilient, low-latency, fault-tolerant distributed systems, including microservices boundaries, event-driven architectures, and scalable API standards.
- Build intelligent agentic workflows and Retrieval-Augmented Generation systems, securely integrating LLMs through the internal R2D2 GenAI gateway.
- Design and redesign real-time and batch data pipelines and unify data collection, processing, and reporting across large-scale systems.
- Bridge high-performance backend systems with modern frontend applications using full-stack engineering practices.
- Drive developer-experience improvements through inner-source, automated testing, observability, and continuous delivery.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers and foster engineering excellence, psychological safety, and continuous learning.
Requirements
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including experience as a Principal, Senior Staff, or Staff Engineer and a proven record of technical leadership.
- Deep expertise designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed enterprise systems in hybrid or public cloud environments.
- Strong hands-on backend experience with Go, Java, or Python and modern frontend experience with React or Angular.
- Proven experience building high-throughput data pipelines with Kafka, Spark, or Flink and managing large-scale data storage and retrieval.
- Practical production experience integrating GenAI and LLMs, including prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, and vector search.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in product-engineering-led environments focused on user outcomes is preferred.
- Understanding of enterprise security patterns, zero-trust architecture, data privacy, and secure credential management is preferred.
- Active open-source contribution or experience driving inner-source initiatives in a large enterprise is preferred.
