Responsibilities
- Design, develop, improve, and deliver scalable, maintainable, secure, and high-performing software solutions.
- Build and manage robust APIs supporting Barclays’ API-first digital strategy.
- Develop and consume APIs using RESTful practices and OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and other functions to define requirements and solution strategies.
- Implement secure coding, unit testing, test automation, code reviews, and code quality practices.
- Work with microservices, event-driven architectures, relational and NoSQL databases, cloud platforms, and developer tooling.
- Participate in complex analysis, troubleshooting, risk mitigation, control strengthening, and governance activities.
- Lead or guide collaborative technical assignments, coach colleagues where applicable, and communicate complex information to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Hands-on full-stack development experience with Core Java, JPA/Hibernate, Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Data.
- Experience building secure and scalable enterprise applications and developing APIs.
- Knowledge of API security protocols and authentication mechanisms including OAuth2 and JWT.
- Good database development skills with relational databases and exposure to NoSQL technologies.
- Experience with microservices architecture, event-driven design patterns, code reviews, and unit testing.
- Familiarity with SonarQube, security scanning tools, Maven, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile practices, AWS, or OpenShift.
- Preferred experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Angular, React, SQL optimization, Oracle, API documentation tools, Docker, Selenium, monitoring and observability solutions, and Kafka.
- Familiarity with AI coding agents, specification-driven development, release and change management, and troubleshooting performance issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with teams, influence stakeholders, and manage risk and controls.
