Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of complex cloud-native platform components and services through production operation.
- Act as technical lead for major features and initiatives, translating ambiguous problems into scalable designs.
- Develop and review Kubernetes Operators, Controllers, Custom Resource Definitions, infrastructure automation, and platform services.
- Operate Kubernetes platforms, distributed systems, stateful workloads, and cloud-native databases at scale.
- Drive reliability, scalability, operability, observability, and technical risk resolution.
- Own technical initiatives from architecture and design through implementation, deployment, and operational support.
- Lead architectural design reviews, technical proposals, and cross-functional technical strategy.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance.
- Evaluate AI-powered tooling, automated operational workflows, and agentic systems for infrastructure operations.
Requirements
- 14+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms in production.
- Strong software engineering expertise in Go and hands-on experience with Kubernetes Operators, Controllers, Custom Resource Definitions, and platform automation.
- Demonstrated experience building and operating Kubernetes platform infrastructure, including managed services such as EKS, AKS, and GKE and self-managed environments.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes orchestration, scheduling, security, storage, networking, and workload management.
- Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP and their compute, networking, security, and identity services.
- Experience designing microservices, event-driven systems, distributed architectures, fault-tolerant systems, and high-availability strategies.
- Experience with containers, CI/CD, GitOps, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Crossplane.
- Experience implementing observability and reliability practices involving metrics, logging, tracing, monitoring, alerting, and service-level objectives.
- Experience supporting cloud-native databases, large-scale data infrastructure, stateful services, and distributed workloads on Kubernetes.
- Ability to build scalable ingestion and transformation workflows and work with Parquet, ORC, and Avro data formats.
- Preferred experience with container networking, service mesh, mTLS, workload identity, secrets management, distributed data or compute workloads, Apache Kafka, and Redis.
- Ability to drive technical strategy through architectural reviews, technical proposals, and cross-functional collaboration.
