Responsibilities
- Spend approximately 25% of the time onsite with customers across the United States
- Build an understanding of customer operations, workflows, constraints, and integration requirements
- Rapidly prototype tools and integrations in the field to validate ideas and solve urgent problems
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex operational and systems issues across varied environments
- Translate field insights into technical requirements and integration specifications for engineering
- Lead technical integration work involving APIs, data pipelines, hardware/software interfaces, and security- or compliance-sensitive deployments
- Collaborate with engineering to align features, interfaces, and infrastructure with operational needs
- Represent customer technical realities internally and support reliable deployments, data flow, connectivity, and operations
- Decompose ambiguous real-world problems into well-scoped technical workstreams
- Inform product and engineering teams through field observations, data, and customer feedback
- Support pre-sales by traveling onsite with prospects to demonstrate and validate the product
- Help establish the foundation, processes, and culture for Realm’s forward deployed engineering function
Requirements
- At least 2 years of software engineering or forward deployed/mission operations experience with a record of shipping impactful work
- Strong coding, debugging, problem-solving, and computer science fundamentals sufficient to build field prototypes
- Experience working directly with enterprise, industrial, government, defense, or security-critical products
- Mastery of core development, infrastructure, and DevOps tools including Git and Linux
- Ability to lead cross-functional problem solving, influence technical teams, and drive projects from inception to delivery
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments while balancing immediate needs and long-term priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong data analysis and hypothesis-forming instincts
- Hands-on prototyping and AI-assisted coding experience
- U.S.-based; citizenship is preferred, or permanent residency
- Preferred experience working onsite with customers and deploying software in industrial or government settings
- Preferred familiarity with mobile or web applications, cloud infrastructure, IoT/industrial systems, or real-time data pipelines
- Preferred experience with sensitive or mission-critical customer environments and knowledge of mining or industrial safety regulations
