Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and review secure production software solutions in Python.
- Build end-to-end cloud-native, microservices-based backend applications and scalable distributed architectures.
- Design and maintain versioned, backward-compatible RESTful APIs with documented schema contracts.
- Develop scalable data solutions using SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Improve operational stability by automating remediation and resolving recurring issues with durable fixes.
- Contribute to technology modernization, engineering standards, and communities of practice.
- Lead effective use of approved AI-assisted development tools and coach engineers on validating outputs for correctness, performance, security, and compliance.
- Foster an inclusive team culture and share engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of hands-on experience in system design, development, testing, and production support.
- Strong Python proficiency for building backend services and microservices with Flask, Django, or FastAPI.
- Ability to independently solve design and functionality challenges with minimal supervision.
- Strong RESTful API design and maintenance skills, including versioning, backward compatibility, schema contracts, and documentation.
- Experience designing scalable, resilient distributed systems using patterns including Circuit Breaker, Bulkhead, Retry/Timeout, CQRS, Event-Driven Architecture, Saga/Process Orchestration, and Idempotency.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and web technologies including REST, WebSockets, and JSON.
- Hands-on experience designing and building scalable solutions with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi and modern delivery, automation, resiliency, and security practices.
- Experience leading approved AI-assisted software development tools and setting expectations for validating AI outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, and compliant engineering workflows.
- Preferred experience in banking or financial services, AWS, presentation, negotiation, mentoring, stakeholder management, problem-solving, analysis, and communication.
