Responsibilities
- Design and own CNN, U-Net, and ViT systems for precision inspection, measurement, and defect classification.
- Own real-time anomaly detection from sensor and time-series product development data streams.
- Validate and deploy physics-informed neural network methodology and surrogate model pipelines into product development systems.
- Architect active learning and Bayesian experimental design pipelines integrated with feature data, laboratory scheduling, and instrument control systems.
- Own the ML platform, including MLflow, Docker, AWS EKS/Kubernetes, LLM gateways, observability, CI/CD, and model monitoring.
- Lead design and code reviews, provide technical direction, define data interface contracts, partner with domain scientists, and mentor junior team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, or a related field; equivalent depth through open-source contributions or a significant GitHub portfolio may be considered.
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on technical experience.
- Demonstrated ownership of AI systems from design through product development deployment.
- Experience directing a small ML or AI engineering team, including design reviews, mentoring, and cross-functional delivery.
- Track record of shipping ML models into product development.
- Expert-level Python proficiency and expert PyTorch skills, including custom loss functions and full training-loop ownership.
- Experience with computer vision architectures, anomaly detection, surrogate modeling, active learning, and Bayesian experimental design.
- Experience with product development MLOps, including MLflow, Docker, AWS EKS, and observability or LLM gateway platforms.
- PINNs, reinforcement learning, RAG or GraphRAG, LLM gateways, RLHF, reward modeling, LLM fine-tuning, and LLM distillation are preferred.
- Experience in materials science, semiconductor, precision product development, or equivalent scientific or industrial AI is a strong differentiator.
