Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve shared internal and open-source Java frameworks and components.
- Contribute to one or more large-scale migrations reshaping Adyen’s application architecture.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance to engineering teams using the frameworks and libraries.
- Design and improve workflows used by engineering teams across Adyen.
- Collaborate with Kubernetes infrastructure, deployment, and security platform teams on technology integration.
- Define framework usage guidance, create code validation rules, and advocate for engineering best practices through workshops and presentations.
Requirements
- At least five years of Java backend development experience.
- Strong skills in core Java and code/API design.
- A track record of building high-quality software with testing at all levels.
- A communicative, proactive, ownership-oriented team player who can influence technically and work through ambiguity.
- Ability to build alignment with stakeholders and partners while driving initiatives.
- Nice-to-have experience with Kubernetes or cloud migrations, legacy modernization, security-related work, or platform development.
- Nice-to-have experience maintaining libraries or frameworks used by many developers.
- Familiarity with Java build tools such as Gradle or Maven.
- Broader architecture knowledge across distributed systems.
- Familiarity with Spring, Jersey, Feign, or OpenAPI.
- Understanding of Domain-Driven Design and Test-Driven Development.
- Exposure to AI agent workflows, DevOps practices, or developer advocacy.
