Base Salary
$153k - $191k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend services for reporting, query execution, and data-intensive workflows.
- Drive architectural decisions across distributed systems, APIs, execution frameworks, and storage/query layers.
- Lead initiatives focused on scalability, performance optimization, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Build systems for compute- and I/O-intensive workloads with strong correctness and auditability requirements.
- Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver performant customer-facing capabilities.
- Improve observability, resiliency, debugging workflows, and operational tooling in production systems.
- Shape the evolution of the distributed reporting and query platform.
- Contribute to software design, testing, maintainability, and production-readiness practices.
- Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and raise the organization’s technical bar.
- Solve ambiguous technical problems while maintaining a strategic long-term perspective.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience building large-scale backend or distributed systems.
- Strong programming experience in Kotlin, Java, Python, or similar backend languages.
- Deep knowledge of system design, APIs, concurrency, networking, and performance optimization.
- Experience designing and operating scalable cloud-native services, with AWS preferred.
- Experience building high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems with strong reliability requirements.
- Experience designing application data models and building services on relational and distributed storage systems.
- Familiarity with asynchronous processing, event-driven systems, and distributed architectures.
- Ability to influence architecture and drive technical decisions across teams.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
- Experience with reporting, query execution, analytics infrastructure, distributed query engines or compute frameworks such as Trino or Spark, correctness and auditability requirements, fintech or financial data systems, React or modern frontend technologies, or AI-assisted engineering workflows is preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
