Base Salary
$180k - $245k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own hardware/software bring-up of AMS and sensor ICs on customer-selected MCU and SoC platforms.
- Write C/C++ driver-level firmware using datasheets and schematics, including register configuration and peripheral interfaces.
- Build application-layer demonstration code for inductive position sensing, impedance sensing, power sequencing, and force/torque sensing.
- Lead technical integration for strategic customer and joint development programs.
- Debug issues across analog front ends, digital buses, and host software in customer laboratories.
- Define proof-of-concept requirements, technical success criteria, and milestones with cross-functional and customer teams.
- Build reusable driver frameworks and reference architectures for multiple engagements.
- Represent Renesas in customer engineering meetings, lab visits, and demonstrations.
- Create architecture documentation, register maps, and bring-up guides.
- Mentor engineers and serve as the escalation point for ambiguous or high-stakes integrations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 10+ years of embedded firmware/software development across multiple silicon vendors and MCU/SoC ecosystems for the Staff level.
- Demonstrable C/C++ development experience at both driver and application levels.
- Experience bringing up analog/mixed-signal ICs and sensors on third-party platforms from datasheets and schematics.
- Deep knowledge of I2C, SPI, UART, and Ethernet-based interfaces.
- Experience developing in bare-metal and RTOS environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%.
- Master's degree in a related engineering field is preferred.
- Robotics, industrial sensing, edge AI compute platform, configurable mixed-signal design, or customer-facing technical experience is preferred.
- Python experience for test automation, data logging, or tooling is preferred.
- Experience mentoring junior or mid-level engineers and working with cross-functional stakeholders is preferred.
