Responsibilities
- Design and deploy automated z/OS provisioning, configuration, recovery, and self-healing workflows using Ansible, Zowe CLI, and z/OSMF.
- Implement predictive observability, anomaly detection, alert correlation, and dashboards for mainframe workloads using IBM Watson AIOps, Splunk ITSI, Grafana, and Prometheus.
- Build CI/CD and automated testing workflows for COBOL and PL/I applications using IBM Dependency-Based Build, UrbanCode Deploy, Git, GitHub, and GitLab.
- Optimize performance, capacity, CPU/MIPS utilization, batch processing, and OLTP workloads using SMF/RMF data, WLM policies, enclaves, JCL, and parallel processing.
- Lead incident response, blameless postmortems, root-cause analysis, automated remediation, on-call readiness, and reliability improvements.
- Enforce security and vulnerability-remediation practices for z/OS and middleware, including RACF and TLS.
- Develop runbooks and workbooks, document operational workflows, and mentor teams on SRE and DevOps practices.
- Improve batch scheduling and health monitoring using IWS, CA7, Control-M, SLA checks, and predictive analytics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in z/OS system programming, performance tuning, or infrastructure support; the posting specifies an incomplete “xx+ years” requirement.
- Proficiency with JCL, REXX, Python, IBM Z System Automation, and Broadcom OPS/MVS.
- Hands-on experience with Zowe, Ansible, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of SRE practices including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Demonstrated experience implementing AI/ML-driven monitoring or auto-remediation in mainframe environments.
- Experience modernizing legacy workflows, including replacing CA Endevor with Git-based SDLC processes.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams during high-severity incidents and communicate technical priorities with business stakeholders.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with AMELIA AIOps, BigPanda, ServiceNow, Zowe Desktop, Dynatrace APM, Feilong, hybrid-cloud integrations, and certifications in IBM z/OS System Programming, Broadcom Mainframe SRE, or HashiCorp Terraform.
