Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services using established engineering patterns and reusable components.
  • Build and enhance cloud solutions on Google Cloud Platform for data ingestion, processing, storage, retrieval, and distribution.
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs with versioning, documentation, backward compatibility, and system integrations.
  • Integrate approved AI services or models into applications and contribute to evaluation and monitoring approaches.
  • Troubleshoot application issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventative fixes.
  • Apply secure coding practices covering authentication, authorization, encryption, audit logging, and compliant data handling.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, observability practices, release planning, testing, and production support.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, team standards, and mentoring junior developers.

Requirements

  • At least eight years of relevant experience.
  • A degree from an accredited college or university in the applicable field; four additional years of related experience are required if the degree is not in the applicable field.
  • Experience developing backend applications or services in Java.
  • Hands-on cloud experience deploying applications on Google Cloud Platform or equivalent cloud experience with the ability to ramp quickly.
  • Experience designing and implementing REST APIs, authentication and authorization approaches, and integration patterns.
  • Experience integrating AI capabilities into applications and familiarity with basic evaluation and monitoring concepts.
  • Practical knowledge of least-privilege access, secrets management, encryption, and audit logging.
  • Proficiency with Git-based workflows and working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and release practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, defect triage, performance tuning, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Preferred qualifications include Agile and SDLC experience, familiarity with VersionOne or ServiceNow, container or serverless experience such as Docker or Kubernetes, and production support or post-incident analysis experience.
