Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based cloud-native applications on GCP.
  • Implement cloud solutions supporting ingestion, processing, storage, retrieval, and distribution workflows.
  • Design and maintain versioned, documented RESTful APIs with authentication, authorization, and backward compatibility.
  • Integrate AI-enabled capabilities and apply basic evaluation and monitoring concepts.
  • Apply secure coding, authorization, encryption, auditing, secrets management, and policy-aligned data handling.
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code for repeatable deployments and consistent environments.
  • Implement observability through logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and operational runbooks.
  • Troubleshoot defects and cloud application issues, including root-cause analysis, performance tuning, and preventative fixes.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, QA, Product Management, engineering, and security stakeholders.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, technical documentation, and shared standards development.

Requirements

  • More than 13 years of relevant experience.
  • A degree from an accredited college or university in the applicable field; a degree in another field requires four additional years of related experience.
  • Strong professional experience developing backend services and APIs in Java.
  • Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating applications on GCP using serverless and/or container-based approaches.
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and integrating with other services.
  • Experience integrating AI capabilities into applications and familiarity with basic evaluation and monitoring concepts.
  • Knowledge of least privilege, service accounts, secrets management, encryption in transit and at rest, audit logging, and other secure engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, Git-based development workflows, and observability tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, defect triage, performance tuning, production support, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Preferred: exposure to Agile methodologies and SDLC practices.
  • Preferred: familiarity with VersionOne, ServiceNow, change/configuration management, or ALM practices.
  • Preferred: exposure to Docker, Kubernetes fundamentals, or managed/serverless deployments.
  • Special credentials, licenses, or certifications may be required for specific task orders.
