Software Senior Principal Engineer / Autonomous AI Software Engineering
Dell Technologies9 hours ago
Base Salary
$200k - $275k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define reference architectures for autonomous agent systems across the software development lifecycle, including orchestration, multi-agent patterns, tool use, MCP, sandboxed runtimes, model routing, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Lead objective technical evaluations and proof-of-concept testing of commercial, open-source, and in-house agent technologies to inform build-versus-buy decisions.
- Establish testing, qualification, acceptance, benchmarking, and regression-monitoring standards for agent-generated code, artifacts, platforms, and models.
- Architect secure and trustworthy agent execution frameworks with auditability, traceability, reproducibility, privacy, failure containment, permissions, and defenses against prompt injection and unauthorized tool execution.
- Write code, build prototypes and integrations, construct core platform capabilities, define the autonomy maturity roadmap, drive enterprise adoption, align cross-functional engineering initiatives, and mentor senior technical talent.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years as an architect or technical lead for large-scale distributed platforms.
- Proven experience architecting, deploying, and maintaining production-grade autonomous agent platforms with runtimes, orchestration engines, tool and MCP integrations, context management, and dynamic model routing.
- Experience designing multi-agent architectures for autonomous software development, including task decomposition, planner/executor/reviewer patterns, structured handoffs, and human-in-the-loop validation that produces production pull requests.
- Deep expertise in secure agent execution environments, sandboxing, workload scheduling, persistent state, distributed tracing and replay, cost optimization, fine-grained access control, and defenses against prompt injection and sandbox escape.
- Direct experience building agent evaluation frameworks, automated benchmarking suites, and regression-testing pipelines, with broad knowledge of open-source and commercial agent ecosystems.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience scaling an agent platform from prototype to enterprise adoption or building commercial agent-based software products is desirable.
- Advanced familiarity with long-horizon agent reasoning, autonomous planning, reflection, self-correction, and reinforcement learning from feedback is desirable.
- Recognized technical leadership in agentic AI through open-source contributions, publications, patents, or benchmark releases is desirable.
Benefits
- Onsite work in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.
- Dell team-member benefits and wellness resources are available through MyWellatDell.com.
