Base Salary
$166k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot production databases, ServiceNow instance performance, and Linux performance across on-premises and hyperscaler environments.
- Own complex incident investigations and root cause analyses across large-scale, multi-tenant PostgreSQL and MariaDB fleets.
- Develop observability tooling and automation to prevent recurring critical issues.
- Influence infrastructure decisions for the multi-tenant cloud platform.
- Mentor and collaborate with operations, support, and development engineers.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and act as an escalation point for internal and external customers.
Requirements
- 12 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 8 years with a master's degree, 5 years with a PhD, or equivalent experience in database engineering in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Deep PostgreSQL expertise, including MVCC, transaction management, vacuum mechanics, WAL architecture, query performance tuning, buffer management, and backup and restore.
- Experience supporting large-scale, multi-tenant SaaS, PaaS, or cloud infrastructure platforms.
- Strong Unix/Linux skills and hands-on Red Hat Linux experience diagnosing CPU, memory, and I/O issues at the operating-system level.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Strong problem-solving, logical reasoning, and end-to-end systems analysis abilities.
- ServiceNow platform, scripting, tuning, and troubleshooting experience is highly preferred.
- Scripting proficiency with shell, Python, JavaScript, and Ansible.
- Experience with schemas, replication, indexing, and query optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using or evaluating AI in work processes, decision-making, problem-solving, workflow automation, or analysis.

- Base pay is $165,500 - $289,600, plus equity when applicable, variable or incentive compensation, and benefits.
