Responsibilities
- Own technical direction and roadmaps for assigned areas and translate business goals into technical plans.
- Design and build microservices, backend-for-frontend services, APIs, data access layers, third-party integrations, and web frontends.
- Lead complex technical initiatives across squads from proof of concept through production.
- Partner with engineering management on engineering-led initiatives, automation, tooling, and improved delivery practices.
- Set standards for testing, safe deployment, observability, security, and production reliability.
- Mentor engineers across squads through design reviews, pairing, coaching, guilds, and internal technical writing.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and participate in the on-call roster for systems owned in production.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on experience shipping and operating backend services, APIs, and web frontends in production using technologies such as C# .NET, TypeScript/Node.js, React/Next.js, or Angular.
- Experience designing enterprise-scale systems, including service boundaries, API contracts, relational and NoSQL data models, integrations, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience leading technical work across multiple teams and influencing engineers and stakeholders.
- Ownership of quality and reliability practices including automated testing, CI/CD, safe releases, logging, monitoring, and incident response.
- Ability to mentor senior and mid-level engineers and improve engineering practices beyond an individual team.
- Ability to use AI-powered engineering tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot effectively.
- Native iOS with Swift, Android with Kotlin, GraphQL, and backend-for-mobile-client experience are preferred or advantageous.
