Responsibilities
- Contribute to product improvements with key performance deliverables in collaboration with engineering teammates.
- Analyze SQL performance with OEM partners and create benchmarks, white papers, demos, and other technical marketing materials.
- Evaluate emerging Azure SKUs and technologies through modeling, competitive analysis, benchmarks, and proof-of-concept work.
- Improve cloud software and hardware deployment processes to meet performance, scale, and SLA goals.
- Identify supportability improvements for performance analysis across cloud and on-premises platforms.
- Troubleshoot and investigate performance and scalability issues, including bottleneck identification and root-cause analysis.
- Communicate performance analysis, progress, findings, and deliverable status to stakeholders.
- Participate in team on-call rotations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or an IT technical discipline.
- At least 4 years of programming experience in C++.
- At least 4 years of performance engineering experience involving performance workloads or tools, measurement, analysis, and root-cause investigation of performance and scalability issues.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and debugging.
- Preferred: specialized knowledge of database or operating-system internals, CPU, system, networking, storage, or cloud technologies.
- Preferred: at least 2 years of experience designing and developing production-quality software using C or C++.
- Preferred: demonstrated experience improving product performance and using Windows and Linux system performance tools.
- Preferred: MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, curiosity, and willingness to address difficult technical problems.
