Responsibilities
- Integrate emerging AI technologies into member experiences.
- Own the technical design and delivery of full-stack agentic AI systems.
- Design, build, expand, and maintain scalable full-stack services and web applications using Ruby on Rails and Python.
- Write, review, and optimize production-ready code while making key technical decisions.
- Lead technical design reviews and author technical designs for complex problems.
- Use AI tools to support design, debugging, delivery, code reviews, and documentation while evaluating outputs for quality and security.
- Identify tasks that can be accelerated with AI and guide junior engineers in responsible AI usage.
- Lead multi-person, multi-sprint projects, coordinating execution, dependencies, tradeoffs, and stakeholder alignment.
- Address security concerns, assess performance implications, and conduct load and performance testing.
- Drive engineering best practices and mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, and coaching.
- Own operational excellence through logging, alerting, monitoring, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- 3+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails or Python.
- Strong backend application development, prompt engineering, and AI agent development skills.
- Experience integrating AI/ML features or LLM-powered services in production.
- Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude or Copilot while critically reviewing generated output for correctness, security, and compliance.
- Experience leading technical designs and multi-person engineering projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a focus on clean, maintainable, secure code.
- Comfort working on an agile team and learning evolving AI capabilities.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop other engineers.
- Experience writing well-designed tests alongside code.
- Healthcare or regulated-environment experience is a bonus.
