Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-performance microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and maintain event-driven integrations with Apache Kafka.
- Own data-layer work including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and migrations with PostgreSQL.
- Operate services in a containerized cloud-native environment using Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP.
- Maintain code quality through reviews, testing standards, and CI/CD practices.
- Mentor team members and promote quality and continuous improvement.
- Own features from requirements through production and ongoing improvement.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, challenge assumptions, and align on solutions.
- Write system design documents, RFCs, ADRs, and other clear technical documentation.
- Identify and address technical debt proactively.
- Participate in architecture discussions with well-reasoned proposals.
- Use AI tools and large language models responsibly to improve productivity and solve complex problems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial Java development experience.
- Strong experience with distributed systems, microservices, event-driven patterns, and inter-service communication.
- Experience with Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, Spring Security, JPA, and Hibernate.
- Deep knowledge of JVM internals, including the memory model, garbage collection tuning, concurrency, and performance profiling.
- Experience with Apache Kafka producers, consumers, consumer groups, offset management, and error handling.
- Experience with PostgreSQL relational modeling, indexing strategy, query plans, and schema migrations.
- Day-to-day production experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Maven or Gradle, Git, JIRA, Confluence, code reviews, and CI/CD.
- Ability to work with non-technical stakeholders and write effective design documents.
- English proficiency at B2+ level.
- Ability to critically evaluate and responsibly apply AI-generated outputs in professional workflows.
- Kotlin development experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design, CQRS, and Event Sourcing is preferred.
- Experience with gRPC and GraphQL is preferred.
- Experience with GCP Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, GKE, and Cloud Spanner is preferred.
- MongoDB experience is preferred.
- Experience with high-throughput, low-latency systems is preferred.
- Background in e-commerce, logistics, or fintech is preferred.
