Responsibilities
- Analyze trading-system performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Generate and implement system enhancements that improve commercial performance.
- Test and deploy trading-system changes.
- Improve the safety and reliability of automated trading systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, traders, sales teams, and other technology groups.
- Balance short-term business needs with strategic system enhancements.
- Support the software lifecycle from inception through development, release, and ongoing support.
Requirements
- Strong academic background in Computer Science or an analytical field such as Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering.
- Strong software engineering background.
- Ability to analyze data and draw useful commercial conclusions.
- Comfort communicating technical topics to non-specialist audiences.
- Experience interacting productively with sales, trading, and technology teams.
- Experience building systems with microsecond-level latency and deterministic performance requirements.
- Experience tuning and optimizing distributed systems.
- Proficiency with a Linux shell.
- Preferred experience with securities or trading systems, multithreaded or concurrent programming, just-in-time compilation, code-path optimization, memory-management strategies, JVM tuning, low-latency messaging, network protocols, Java network I/O, JNI, hardware architecture for latency optimization, and Linux kernel or operating-system internals.
