Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to business teams, technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
  • Lead adoption and governance of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering and SDLC/TLM automation practices.
  • Establish validation standards for secure coding, peer review, automated testing, release readiness, and AI-assisted engineering outputs.
  • Drive decisions affecting product design, application functionality, technical operations, and engineering processes.
  • Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert and advocate for firmwide software development frameworks, tools, and practices.
  • Coach engineers on responsible AI usage, secure data handling, governance, resiliency, and security expectations.
  • Build and support Java applications and AWS-based systems, including cloud migration readiness.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 6+ years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and support.
  • Proficiency in Java, including object-oriented programming, collections, streams, lambdas, and exception handling.
  • Strong knowledge of Spring Boot and REST API design principles and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services including Step Functions, Lambda, S3, ECS/EKS, and API Gateway.
  • Experience leading enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development and delivery tools, including defining validation expectations and measuring outcomes.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, security, and governance.
  • Working knowledge of AWS AI/ML and NLP services including Amazon SageMaker, Bedrock, Comprehend, and Textract.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch for large-scale search, indexing, and analytics.
  • Understanding of relational databases, SQL, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development practices.
  • Preferred familiarity with embeddings such as Word2Vec and BERT, NLP techniques, vector search, and retrieval-augmented generation patterns.
  • Preferred exposure to AWS data services including OpenSearch, Glue, Athena, or Kinesis.
