Responsibilities
- Own the complete software development lifecycle, including discovery, estimation, technical design, implementation, testing, release, production support, and continuous improvement.
- Design and evolve scalable microservices and API-based solutions with appropriate service boundaries, resiliency, observability, security, configuration, and compatibility.
- Develop and maintain production-grade Python services using Flask and OpenAPI patterns, including business logic, validation, authentication, authorization, error handling, and API contracts.
- Build and support service-to-service communication and enterprise integrations using ZeroMQ and other integration patterns.
- Develop data-access layers and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including query optimization, schema changes, migrations, transactions, backups, recovery, and security considerations.
- Build, package, deploy, and troubleshoot Docker services in Linux-based on-premises environments and container orchestration environments such as Nomad.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated releases, configuration management, environment promotion, observability, incident response, and production runbooks.
- Create and maintain unit, integration, API, regression, acceptance, and browser-based tests using frameworks such as pytest.
- Support user-facing features and operational dashboards, integrating frontend workflows with backend APIs and data services.
- Investigate production issues, perform root-cause analysis, manage technical risks and dependencies, and implement permanent fixes and preventative improvements.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or backend-focused Full Stack Developer delivering and supporting enterprise applications through the full SDLC.
- Strong commercial experience developing production services and APIs in Python.
- Hands-on experience with Flask or a comparable Python web/API framework and OpenAPI or equivalent API specification practices.
- Practical production experience designing or supporting microservices and distributed systems.
- Hands-on PostgreSQL experience, including SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and production troubleshooting.
- Experience with asynchronous or message-based service communication; ZeroMQ experience is strongly required.
- Experience building and operating Docker containers in Linux environments, ideally in on-premises or hybrid enterprise settings.
- Experience with automated testing, code review, version control, CI/CD practices, and secure software delivery.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, stakeholder-collaboration, prioritization, and independent decision-making skills.
- Experience with C++, CMake, Conan, native libraries, mixed-language Python/native applications, Django, React, TypeScript, Nomad, Jenkins, RPM/CPack packaging, protocol buffers, or strongly typed service-contract technologies is desirable.
- Experience supporting large operational, industrial, geospatial, or data-intensive applications, reliability engineering, performance testing, security remediation, or technical debt reduction is desirable.
