Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction, roadmap, and strategy for squad products and services.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, coaching, and feedback to engineers across the squad and wider domain.
- Design and implement platform services and support tools, including transitions from current to target architectures.
- Build CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling that make changes safe, repeatable, and observable.
- Provide expert-level operational support aligned with SLAs and incident management processes.
- Improve the Standard Operating Environment and related tooling, including through emerging AI-enabled technologies.
- Define engineering standards and patterns and collaborate with squads across the domain.
- Demonstrate strong code, design, testing, documentation, quality, simplicity, and maintainability standards.
Requirements
- Experienced software engineer capable of serving as the most senior engineer in a squad and balancing hands-on engineering with technical leadership.
- Experience with full-lifecycle platform engineering across Windows and macOS environments.
- Backend development experience with .NET, Java, or TypeScript.
- Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, automation tooling, and DevSecOps practices.
- Knowledge of microservices, RESTful APIs, and domain-driven design.
- Experience with AWS, infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible, and containerisation using Docker or Kubernetes.
- Exposure to identity and access management platforms such as Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID, SailPoint IIQ, CyberArk, or Ping.
- Ability to set and communicate technical direction, influence teams, manage competing priorities, and integrate risk, security, and resilience into design and delivery.
- Ability to mentor engineers and raise engineering standards across teams.
