Responsibilities
- Build infrastructure managing metadata for hundreds of billions of files, hundreds of petabytes of user data, and millions of concurrent connections.
- Expand Dropbox’s data-fabric capabilities by improving interoperability and adaptability across applications, devices, services, and ecosystems.
- Measure and optimize the analytics platform for extracting insights from large data volumes.
- Develop solutions that improve infrastructure performance, reliability, security, and user experience.
- Participate in occasional on-call work to address bugs, outages, and other operational issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in computer science or a related coding-focused technical field, or equivalent technical experience.
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing large-scale, multithreaded, geographically distributed backend systems.
- Proficiency programming and debugging in languages such as Python, Go, C, C++, or Java.
- Experience with operating system internals, filesystems, databases, networks, and compilers.
- Ability to independently execute assigned tasks.
- Familiarity with semaphores and mutexes is preferred.
