Base Salary
$138k - $185k/yr
Responsibilities
- Designs, builds, enhances, reviews, debugs, and operates secure, high-quality production software for the API Platform.
- Works with technical leads, product managers, designers, stakeholders, and customers to solve business-critical problems and deliver outcomes.
- Identifies and removes technical debt while improving the quality of engineering deliverables.
- Drives technical decisions affecting product design, application functionality, technical operations, and engineering processes.
- Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert and advocates for firmwide software development frameworks, tools, and practices.
- Uses enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation tools for coding, refactoring, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation while validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Guides responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including secure data handling and resiliency practices.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Application development experience with Java, Spring Boot, APIs, databases, cloud-native technologies, DevOps practices, and test-driven development.
- Recent experience with a cloud platform such as AWS and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience building or using API Platforms, including expertise in areas such as cloud connectivity, network diagnosis, resilient systems, API security, authentication and authorization, API gateways, API design, standards, documentation, and governance.
- Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes, with deep expertise in at least one technical discipline.
- Ability to independently solve design and functionality problems with little to no oversight.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and critically evaluating, validating, and refining their outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, and engineering security and resiliency expectations.
- Preferred: strong networking and connectivity knowledge, including network latency, DNS, cloud connectivity, and content delivery networks.
- Preferred: strong API security knowledge, including transport-level security, payload encryption, signature algorithms, certificate management, OAuth, and DDoS protection.
- Preferred: experience designing scalable and resilient cloud software systems and driving API specification, standards, documentation, and best-practice adoption at scale.
- Familiarity with React is a plus.
