Responsibilities
- Investigate how identity-service binaries, configuration, feature flags, and secrets are deployed to production and compare the mechanics with Safe Deployment Process policy.
- Analyze staged rollouts, automated health gates, and rollback paths and design and implement fixes that improve deployment safety.
- Build queries and tooling across change, pipeline, and telemetry sources to measure deployment behavior.
- Partner with service teams to validate findings, agree on remediation, and drive fixes to completion.
- Codify safe-deployment patterns, improve compliance benchmarks, and strengthen methodologies used by other engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and solid technical engineering experience coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Senior experience building, operating, or shipping large-scale distributed or cloud services in production.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, release orchestration, or safe-deployment and progressive-rollout systems is preferred.
- Proficiency querying and analyzing operational data at scale, such as with Kusto/KQL, is preferred.
- Ability to independently reverse-engineer unfamiliar, sparsely documented production systems and communicate findings clearly.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security-screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
