Base Salary
$264k - $380k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical direction for core data engineering and streaming transformation primitives.
- Lead multi-quarter technical investments focused on performance, scalability, correctness, and reliability.
- Collaborate with product, research, and engineering teams to design cohesive data engineering constructs.
- Conduct architectural reviews and provide mentorship to engineers through feedback and sponsorship.
- Engage with customers to gather insights on real-world usage patterns and prioritize development.
- Contribute to Snowflake's technical reputation through design influence and external publications.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed data systems.
- Deep expertise in stream processing, declarative query execution, pipeline orchestration, or data transformation.
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, algorithms, fault tolerance, and consistency models.
- Proficiency in C++ or Java with a focus on systems-level reasoning.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives from architecture to production at petabyte scale.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for representing complex technical trade-offs.
