Base Salary

$140k - $224k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and build production backend services for interactive performance analysis and collaborative workflows.
  • Improve the responsiveness, scalability, and efficiency of data-intensive product experiences.
  • Onboard, validate, organize, and serve large performance datasets.
  • Create durable service interfaces and data models that evolve with product needs.
  • Engineer resilient behavior for concurrency, partial failures, retries, cancellation, replay, and recovery.
  • Establish testing, observability, diagnostics, and operational practices for owned capabilities.
  • Partner with frontend, security, product, and source-system teams to deliver complete customer workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience building production backend services, distributed systems, analytical systems, or data platforms using Python or a comparable language.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including automated tests, failure handling, production diagnostics, and compatible evolution of APIs or stored data.
  • Experience with asynchronous backends and hands-on depth in query execution or real-time stateful systems for service-focused work.
  • Strong SQL and experience with ingestion, schema evolution, analytical storage, or query-optimized data modeling for data-focused work.
  • Sound judgment regarding failure and concurrency, including cancellation, replay, safe retries, or recovery.
  • Ability to use logs, metrics, traces, load tests, or data-quality signals to improve system behavior.
  • Record of working across client, service, data, and security concerns to ship complete production workflows.
  • Preferred coding experience with Python, C++, or Rust, with Rust highly valued.
  • Preferred experience with high-cardinality, time-indexed, trace, telemetry, or profiling workloads; WebSockets, pub/sub, replay, columnar formats, embedded query engines, analytical stores, progressive detail, incremental processing, generated clients, secure sharing, authorization-aware caching, provenance, lifecycle automation, or cost attribution.
