$150k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define the multi-quarter technical roadmap for Commerce domains with the engineering manager.
- Lead complex, cross-team technical initiatives involving Taskrabbit, Stripe, and Sovos.
- Translate ambiguous business goals into clear technical strategies and designs.
- Elevate reliability and observability for money-flow systems and improve incident response.
- Serve as a Ruby on Rails subject-matter expert and mentor engineers.
- Lead the adoption of Spec-Driven Development with AI tools.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional backend engineering experience with demonstrated Staff-level impact.
- Deep expertise in building and evolving large Ruby on Rails applications.
- Strong SQL and data modeling skills for financial use cases.
- Hands-on experience with async/event-driven systems like Kafka.
- Proven track record in designing observability and alerting for critical systems.
- Mastery in production debugging and RSpec testing for financial correctness.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong ownership mentality.
