Responsibilities
- Lead the data engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining data applications.
- Architect and implement backend solutions and scalable systems for advertising and marketing technology.
- Design, build, test, deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve distributed data solutions.
- Work with product teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Lead engineering and operational excellence efforts, including coding standards, best practices, code reviews, and bug fixing.
- Mentor and coach junior developers on data engineering technologies.
- Collaborate with data science teams to implement analytics pipelines and enable platform users.
- Lead discovery and high-level design for medium to large projects.
- Collaborate with Walmart engineering teams across geographies and proactively identify systemic issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area plus three years of software engineering or related experience, or five years of software engineering or related experience.
- The role description also cites a BS or MS degree and six or more years of experience.
- Experience with Spark, Hive, BigQuery, Java, and Python.
- Experience bootstrapping production and non-production environments in public or private cloud environments.
- Strong Linux knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot complex distributed, multi-tier architectures.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, written communication, verbal communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree and experience leading information security or cybersecurity projects.
- Preferred experience includes WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, digital accessibility practices, and Cisco certification.
