Responsibilities
- Own features from concept through production release and ship high-quality code across frontend, backend, APIs, and data layers.
- Build, test, deploy, operate, and troubleshoot full stack applications and services, including production performance and reliability improvements.
- Build frontend applications with React, Angular, or Vue.js and TypeScript, and backend services with Java, Node.js, Python, or .NET.
- Implement RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints, gRPC services, and event-driven integrations.
- Configure and manage AWS or GCP infrastructure, containers, serverless systems, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment automation.
- Build and optimize relational and NoSQL data layers, caching systems, and message queues.
- Use AI coding assistants for code generation, refactoring, testing, documentation, and code review.
- Integrate LLM APIs and AI/ML services, design RAG pipelines and prompt strategies, and develop AI-powered features, agents, workflows, and automations.
- Evaluate and champion AI tools, establish responsible AI guardrails and governance, and improve team productivity through AI adoption.
- Contribute to architecture, technical discussions, internal knowledge sharing, tech talks, and communities of practice.
- Mentor and train team members on AI-augmented development practices and partner with product, design, and data science teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 5+ years in hands-on full stack technical lead roles.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Expert proficiency with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frontend frameworks, including React or Angular, plus HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and accessibility standards.
- Deep hands-on experience with Java/Spring Boot, Node.js/Express, Python/FastAPI/Django, or comparable backend technologies.
- Strong experience deploying and operating AWS or GCP services, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tooling including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, and Redis, as well as data modeling and query tuning.
- Experience building RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, gRPC endpoints, or event-driven integrations using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Advanced daily use of AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor and experience integrating LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or GCP Vertex Service into production applications.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, embeddings, vector databases, testing frameworks, distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
- Preferred experience includes AI/ML product features, AI orchestration frameworks, agent-based architectures, open-source or technical publication contributions, regulated industries, and cloud certifications.
- Strong testing, architecture, security, compliance, mentorship, and technical leadership capabilities are expected.
Benefits
- Hybrid schedule requiring three days per week in the office, Tuesday through Thursday, in Columbus, Ohio; Chicago, Illinois; Hartford, Connecticut; or Charlotte, North Carolina.
- The compensation package may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
- The listed annualized base pay range is $116,000-$174,000.
