Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve the platform and developer-experience function, bringing infrastructure under code and clear ownership.
  • Own production uptime, lead incident response, conduct root cause analysis, and implement safeguards, on-call practices, runbooks, and postmortems.
  • Manage metrics, monitoring, alerting, tracing, dashboards, and actionable coverage across the platform.
  • Manage and improve AWS infrastructure, including EKS, RDS/Aurora, networking, scalability, redundancy, cost, and fault tolerance.
  • Operate, upgrade, troubleshoot, and scale EKS clusters and workloads.
  • Maintain PostgreSQL databases, messaging systems, and related data, network, and performance pathways.
  • Define infrastructure as code with AWS CDK in JavaScript/TypeScript and extend existing infrastructure stacks.
  • Own GitHub Actions pipelines and developer tooling, removing deployment, reliability, and scaling bottlenecks.
  • Ensure tracker data pathways through cellular tunnels and AWS networking are reliable, secure, and observable.
  • Monitor AWS spending, identify savings opportunities, communicate trade-offs, and document systems while sharing knowledge across the team.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles, including recent senior individual-contributor experience owning production systems end to end.
  • Substantial hands-on experience running production infrastructure on AWS.
  • Production experience deploying, scaling, upgrading, and troubleshooting container-orchestrated workloads.
  • Experience operating managed relational databases in production and resolving performance issues.
  • Knowledge of VPCs, subnets, routing, DNS, and traffic flow between systems.
  • Proficiency writing infrastructure as code and related automation rather than relying on manual configuration.
  • Preferred experience with AWS CDK in JavaScript/TypeScript, GitHub Actions, distributed messaging, caching, or search.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly, understand underlying mechanics, exercise sound judgment, communicate trade-offs, and document and share knowledge.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent hands-on experience is required.
