Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance C++ software for complex systems.
- Architect scalable simulation solutions for systems of systems and real-time processing.
- Integrate third-party software and hardware systems into comprehensive architectures.
- Set technical standards, mentor engineers, and promote software engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align projects and deliver successfully.
- Apply continuous integration and test-driven development practices.
- Debug and optimize complex systems to improve performance.
- Drive task decomposition for teams and individuals and evaluate new technologies.
Requirements
- Typically requires 7 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 5 years with a master’s degree, 4 years with a PhD, or equivalent work experience.
- Requires advanced professional experience in software engineering and systems integration.
- Requires extensive modern C++ experience, familiarity with older C++ standards, and Python experience.
- Requires programming experience in Linux, with Windows experience as a bonus.
- Requires expertise with Docker or other containerization mechanisms.
- Requires demonstrated success leading projects with more than 10 contributors.
- Requires knowledge of design patterns, system architecture, continuous integration/delivery, and test-driven development.
- Preferred qualifications include an MS or greater in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience includes real-time and distributed simulation, surface or subsurface simulation environments and models, third-party software and hardware integration, gRPC, ActiveMQ, ZeroMQ, CMake, Conan, UCI, and OMS standards.
