Base Salary
$186k - $223k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define, build, and support testing of autonomous trucks in virtual environments using real-world data replay and simulated driving scenarios.
- Own technical direction and key architecture decisions for simulation-based test environments and infrastructure.
- Serve as the simulation subject-matter expert and help teams adopt simulation tools and test environments.
- Develop test scenarios, oversee simulation and replay-based test plans, and analyze post-test event logs.
- Identify requirements for virtual testing tools, infrastructure, and simulations of vehicle sensors and related environments.
- Drive alignment across verification, model delivery, and autonomy consumer teams while representing the simulation roadmap and priorities.
- Mentor and develop engineers, including senior individual contributors, and help set the group’s technical bar.
- Lead process improvements and report testing progress and technical risks to product and quality management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or an engineering equivalent plus 10+ years of experience; alternatively, a related master’s degree plus 7+ years or a PhD plus 5+ years.
- Deep understanding of simulation-based testing, including appropriate use of recompute simulation.
- Extensive experience developing test scenarios and debugging complex software issues.
- Experience with Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation and testing methodologies.
- Ability to lead virtual testing events, trace and troubleshoot the entire software stack, and drive resolution of technical risk.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing engineers, including senior individual contributors.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and experience reporting testing progress to product and quality management.
- Programming experience in C++ and Python is preferred.
- Experience with ROS, system-level troubleshooting, fault isolation, test framework architectures, and technical leadership across simulation or V&V initiatives is preferred.
