Responsibilities
- Design, develop, improve, and deliver high-quality Android software solutions.
- Build modern Android applications using Kotlin, Java, Android SDK, Jetpack components, XML, and Jetpack Compose.
- Apply maintainable application architecture, dependency management, modularisation, lifecycle management, state handling, and side-effect management.
- Implement automated unit and UI testing and participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, security controls, build optimization, and release automation.
- Use monitoring and observability platforms to support application quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, UX Designers, Solution Architects, Security, Platform, QA, product managers, designers, and engineers.
- Support cross-platform mobile initiatives through knowledge of iOS development principles and mobile ecosystem standards.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security, risk, governance, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead collaborative assignments or teams, guide team members, influence stakeholders, and contribute to policies and procedures.
- Manage risks and strengthen controls related to the work performed.
- Contribute to technology communities, continuous improvement, and digital transformation initiatives.
Requirements
- In-depth technical knowledge and experience in Android mobile development.
- Strong Android development experience with expert knowledge of Kotlin and experience supporting legacy Java codebases.
- Experience with Android SDK, Android Studio, Jetpack Components, XML, Jetpack Compose, Navigation Component, Compose Navigation, MVVM, MVP, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flows, Hilt, and Dagger.
- Strong understanding of Android lifecycle management, state handling, side-effect management, notifications, and permissions.
- Experience with Retrofit and OkHttp networking technologies.
- Strong knowledge of Gradle, modularisation strategies, and build optimization.
- Experience with JUnit, Mockito and/or MockK, and Compose UI Testing.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools including Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub, and Snyk.
- Knowledge of GitFlow, trunk-based development, Android App Bundles, and Android release processes.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog and Firebase.
- Understanding of secure coding, application architecture, dependency management, maintainable code design, and security controls.
- Working knowledge of iOS development principles and mobile ecosystem standards.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, communicate complex information, influence stakeholders, and manage risk.
- Ability to contribute to strategic thinking, change and transformation, business-aligned technology, and governance objectives.
