Responsibilities
- Enable engineering teams to deliver complex projects quickly while maintaining a high quality bar.
- Develop iOS performance frameworks and investigate memory, database, rendering, battery, and network performance.
- Identify performance hotspots, define benchmarks, and build regression and synthetic performance testing suites.
- Collaborate with mobile developers to design solutions addressing shared technical needs and pain points.
- Lead large initiatives involving scalability, performance, technical debt, and new value delivery.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, training, and knowledge sharing.
- Set engineering standards and provide technical, procedural, and architectural guidance.
- Conduct proofs of concept and speculative technical exploration when appropriate.
- Contribute to and review technical documentation and technical decisions.
- Promote psychological safety and effective collaboration across the engineering organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of engineering experience.
- 5+ years of experience building iOS applications with Swift and Objective-C.
- 3 years of experience in an object-oriented programming and/or functional programming role.
- Experience with performance profiling and analysis using Xcode profiling tools.
- Experience building native iOS performance tracking and analysis frameworks and tools.
- Experience building regression suites and synthetic performance regression testing.
- Broad and deep knowledge of iOS architectural components, including CoreData, UIKit, and SwiftUI.
- Experience with MVC architecture; MVVM experience is a plus.
- Experience working with RESTful APIs and JSON.
- Understanding of multithreading, concurrent programming, memory management, and performance optimization.
- Experience building offline-capable application experiences.
- Proven knowledge of software engineering techniques, methodologies, and practices.
- Exceptional communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
- Experience leading large initiatives and course-correcting as needed.
- Ability to evaluate technical approaches and maintain industry-leading engineering practices.
