Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deliver, and improve scalable, maintainable, and performant Android software solutions.
- Build modern Android applications using Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack components, XML, and Jetpack Compose.
- Apply Android architecture, lifecycle and state management, dependency injection, networking, modularisation, and build optimisation practices.
- Implement automated unit and UI testing, CI/CD pipelines, security controls, and release automation.
- Collaborate with product, UX, solution architecture, security, platform, and QA teams to deliver integrated digital solutions.
- Support Android app release processes, monitoring, observability, and cross-platform mobile initiatives.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, technology communities, risk management, governance, and continuous improvement.
- Lead complex assignments, guide or coach team members, and influence stakeholders on technical and operational outcomes.
Requirements
- In-depth professional knowledge and experience in Android mobile development.
- Expertise in Kotlin and experience supporting legacy Java codebases.
- Experience with Android SDK, Android Studio, Jetpack Components, XML, Jetpack Compose, Navigation, MVVM or MVP, Kotlin Coroutines and Flows, and Hilt or Dagger.
- Strong understanding of Android lifecycle management, state handling, side-effect management, notifications, and permissions.
- Experience with Retrofit and OkHttp for mobile networking.
- Strong knowledge of Gradle, modularisation strategies, and build optimisation.
- Experience with automated testing using JUnit, Mockito or MockK, and Compose UI Testing.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub, and Snyk.
- Experience with Android App Bundles and mobile release processes.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog or Firebase.
- Understanding of application architecture, dependency management, maintainable code design, secure coding, enterprise controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Working knowledge of iOS development principles and mobile ecosystem standards is valued.
- Ability to collaborate across functions, communicate complex information, manage risk, and provide technical guidance.
