Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable, reliable, and maintainable software platforms for acquiring, processing, enriching, and distributing company financial data.
- Own technical design and delivery from requirements and architecture through implementation, production readiness, and ongoing operational excellence.
- Design distributed systems and microservices with attention to availability, fault tolerance, performance, data consistency, and operational resilience.
- Build backend services, APIs, data-processing pipelines, and event-driven workflows for high-volume financial data.
- Prototype technical approaches, evaluate trade-offs, and improve legacy systems through modernization, simplification, automation, and performance optimization.
- Write and review high-quality production code and contribute to testing, engineering standards, observability, monitoring, logging, metrics, and production support.
- Collaborate with globally distributed Product, Data, and Engineering teams.
- Mentor engineers, lead technical discussions and design reviews, and promote technical excellence.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of hands-on software engineering experience building and supporting production systems.
- Strong Python programming skills, with knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and software engineering principles.
- Experience designing distributed, scalable, fault-tolerant systems, including microservice and asynchronous or event-driven architectures.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs and building backend services, data-processing pipelines, or workflow platforms.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL, including data modeling, schema design, and high-volume data access patterns.
- Experience with one or more NoSQL databases, distributed caches, or messaging and queuing technologies such as Redis or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with automated testing, code reviews, source control, production monitoring, logging, metrics, and debugging complex systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, ownership, and architectural decision-making skills.
- Preferred experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and frameworks such as React, Redux, or Vue, plus HTML and CSS.
- Preferred experience with Linux, containerized development or deployment environments, large-scale data platforms, ETL or data-processing pipelines, distributed object stores, financial or market data systems, and legacy modernization.
- Familiarity with AI/ML-assisted data-processing workflows, data quality frameworks, financial services, company financial statements, market data, or Bloomberg products is beneficial.
