Base Salary
$175k - $185k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build performant, scalable Go-based backend microservices for real-time and high-throughput workloads.
- Own complex technical features end to end from product requirements through deployment and monitoring.
- Diagnose performance bottlenecks, optimize database queries, and improve distributed-system resilience.
- Define architectural direction and communicate technical tradeoffs for team services.
- Mentor Software Engineers I, II, and III through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
- Improve practices for code quality, testing, observability, and deployment.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and engineering teams to translate product goals into technical solutions.
- Participate in the production on-call rotation, incident response, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience, including significant production Go development.
- Experience owning and delivering complex, multi-component software features in a team environment.
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
- Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL or comparable relational databases, including schema design and query optimization.
- Expert-level Go proficiency and ability to write idiomatic, well-tested, production-quality code.
- Understanding of REST, gRPC, or GraphQL API design.
- Experience with Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and observability practices including logging, metrics, and tracing.
- Working knowledge of Ruby on Rails is preferred.
- Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar event-driven technologies is preferred.
- Familiarity with Terraform, Kubernetes operators, and ArgoCD is preferred.
- Experience with high-traffic real-time systems, contributions to the Go open-source ecosystem, or daily fantasy sports and sports betting experience is preferred.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools and integrating AI tooling into engineering workflows is preferred.
