Responsibilities
- Write and tune PySpark jobs on EMR on EKS and Delta Lake for large-scale data transformation.
- Design and build LLM-powered agents with tool calling, multi-step workflows, RAG, guardrails, confidence gating, and human review.
- Define agent tools and APIs and connect agents to internal systems and data sources.
- Build Python services, shared libraries, and Kafka producers and consumers.
- Develop prompts, evaluation harnesses, and CI-based quality, cost, and latency measurement.
- Serve and monitor agents through APIs using LLM and agent observability.
- Write design documentation and collaborate with engineers and data scientists on architecture decisions.
- Use AI coding agents while maintaining correctness and quality.
Requirements
- Production experience with Python 3 and a Python web framework such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Hands-on experience with Spark or PySpark, including tuning jobs on EMR or EMR on EKS.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with large-scale data processing and big data technologies.
- Hands-on experience building LLM or agent-based features, including tool or function calling and multi-step workflows.
- Experience with an LLM or agent framework or platform such as Amazon Bedrock, LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or OpenAI or Anthropic SDKs.
- Experience with RAG, embeddings, vector search, grounding, prompt engineering, and LLM or agent evaluation.
- Experience handling sensitive data and PII with appropriate data governance and privacy considerations.
- Experience with at least one database such as MongoDB, DocumentDB, PostgreSQL, or a similar system.
- Experience with AWS services including S3 and EMR.
- Experience writing tests with pytest or a similar tool and working with Git.
- Comfortable working with Docker and Linux.
- Practical experience using AI coding assistants or agents such as Kiro, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude Code.
- Strong communication skills, including design documentation and cross-team collaboration.
- Preferred qualifications include MCP, agent reliability and observability, Delta Lake, AWS Glue, Athena, Kafka, Kubernetes, EKS, Helm, GitOps, Node.js, Java, scikit-learn, pandas, and NumPy experience.
